INTERVIEWED BY ERIKA @ STYLE BOUNDARY

STYLE BOUNDARY: Hi Adepa, please introduce yourself.

ADEPA: I’m Adepa Foriwaa, a daughter born of a strong and dedicated Ghanaian man and woman, a sister to resilient and productive siblings, a mother to an intelligent and humorous beautiful boy, a friend to diligent, loving and responsible people and above all a witness of Christ. Called and sent by God to validate everything that He has said and done in and through my life so that others may believe.

I’m originally from Ghana west Africa but I live in Toronto Canada. I love to sing and I kinda love to cook. I say kinda because my family members have made me the cook of the house and if I don’t cook, we don’t eat so I kinda have to love cooking.

I’m a creative person, therefore, I’m drawn to anything creative and it’s evident in my style, my conversations and my expressions. I’m also a spiritual woman so I understand the depth of resoluteness to submit to the supremacy of the word of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I live my life with the intention and belief that the word of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit must be the principal influencers of my thinking, my character and my destiny. life as I know it is spiritual so I am deliberate in keeping with spiritual things like fellowship with the Spirit, prayers, studying scriptures, and fasting.

Spirit Norm was placed on my heart by God in a place of prayer and the vast mission of the community is that Jesus is revealed in and through the lives of men ( when I say men, it applies to male and female. Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬-‭27‬.) and as a result, He is glorified.

'I AM A CREATIVE PERSON. THEREFORE, I'M DRAWN TO ANYTHING CREATIVE AND IT'S EVIDENT IN MY STYLE, MY CONVERSATIONS AND MY EXPRESSIONS.'

SB: use three words to describe your style.

ADEPA: Minimal, Timeless and Comfort. Minimal because less is more. Timeless because I love pieces that can stand the test of time and comfort, I think you get where I’m going with this;)

SB: Tell us about your journey to confidence.

ADEPA: I believe confidence is birthed through the knowledge of self-discovery. And until I truly knew who I am, every confidence I thought I had was a scam. Now I can boldly live a confident life because I know whom I have believed (Jesus), and I am persuaded by the invincibility of His counsel and the forcefulness of His word to manipulate life till I win. This is my confidence.

SB: Describe a powerful outfit that gives you the most confidence.

ADEPA: I would go with anything comfortable, minimal and stylish.

'TIMELESS BECAUSE I LOVE PIECES THAT CAN STAND THE TEST OF TIME AND COMFORT.'

SB: Who was your biggest fashion inspiration growing up?

ADEPA: I can not accredit it to one person. My eyes work in a way that sees beauty in most things. So even the most uncommon things can attract me and as a result, I found inspiration everywhere and in anyone growing up.

SB: Share one great styling hack that changed your life.

ADEPA: That would be shopping menswear. It definitely changed the game for me. I would get things like jackets and shirts, and alter them to fit me. It’s been great so far.

'SHOPPING MENSWEAR - IT DEFINITELY CHANGED THE GAME FOR ME. I WOULD GET THINGS LIKE JACKETS AND SHIRTS, AND ALTER THEM TO FIT ME.'

SB: We adore your hair in different beautiful hairstyles. What’s your go-to routine?

ADEPA: Thank you for acknowledging my beautiful hairstyles. My go-to hairstyle would be throwing on a wig. It comes in very handy when my hair is a mess but I need to create content. A life saver I tell you:)

SB: What is your wellness routine like?

ADEPA: It’s unusual and probably unheard of but when I wake up, I make it my mission to never lose Joy no matter what. This keeps me sustained through whatever life throws at me.

SB: In what way would you like to see the Spirit Norm make an impact?

ADEPA: Spirit Norm is certainly bigger than me because it’s from God to God’s people. The goal is for Jesus to be revealed and glorified through all walks of life.

'I MAKE IT MY MISSION TO NEVER LOSE JOY NO MATTER WHAT. THIS KEEPS ME SUSTAINED THROUGH WHATEVER LIFE THROWS AT ME.'

SB: What’s the best thing about living in Toronto?

ADEPA: I never appreciated living in Toronto until I went to Ghana for a year. Don’t get me wrong, Ghana has its charm but I missed the accessibility and convenience I had in Toronto. Just the little things, great healthcare, diverse people and Poutine.

SB: Can you give us a little Toronto guide?

ADEPA: Yorkdale mall is one of the best malls in Toronto. All the great shops can be found there.

For restaurants, there’s this place called Oretta midtown, it’s absolutely an experience to be there. I love it there. The AGO (art gallery) is also a great place to hang out if you like art.
