Erika's Madrid Guide

Updated: Aug 11

Madrid, the capital of Spain, where should I begin? The city of elegant boulevard, culture and food.I spent 4 magical days exploring this charming city and here's my recommendations of Madrid. Save this to your travel itinerary, enjoy!

TO STAY

Thompson Madrid, by Hyatt

Thompson Madrid is definitely a five star stay with no doubt. Located right in the heart of Madrid, 2 minutes walk to Gran Via station, a one-of-a-kind hotel brand with contemporary design and thoughtfully curated spaces.

Address: Pl. del Carmen, Centro, 28013 Madrid, Spain

TO EAT

La Primera

Elegant Cantabrian restaurant located next to my stay. It's classy yet relaxing. Croquetas, Pimientos Rellenos, Escalopines de Ternera are my favourite dishes!

Address: Gran Vía, 1, Centro, 28013 Madrid, Spain

Restaurante Carbón

Had dinner at Restaurante Carbón on my second night in Madrid. They are well-known for grills and fresh seafood. Fresh lobster and soupy rice with red prawns (Fideuá de gamba roja y ali-oli balear) are the best.

Address: Calle de Juan Bravo, 37, Salamanca, 28006 Madrid, Spain

Vinitus

Vinitus is a chain Mediterranean tapas restaurant, they have a branch in Barcelona. They serve small sharing plates & mains, it was so delicious and I had to order a second round of food. Beed tenderloin montadito with foie, prawn skewer and grilled razor clams were my favourites.

Address: C/ del Consell de Cent, 333, L'Eixample, 08007 Barcelona, Spain

TO SEE

El Retiro Park

Long walk after work on a Friday. The El Retiro Park reminds me of the Hyde Park, the central pond and the glasshouse are stunning.

Serrano

If you love a little taste of Mayfair in London or SoHo in New York City, Serrano is the area you want to visit in Madrid. Beautiful architecture and luxury fashion houses are located here. Love the Saint Laurent and CASA Loewe Madrid flagship store, immaculate interior design and retail concept.
